BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 12 (Xinhua) -- The Royal Brunei Police Force has confiscated over 900 cans and bottles of alcohol during an operation near the Brunei border recently, local media reported on Sunday.
According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin, police officers on patrol found the alcohol inside plastic boxes in a rented van smuggled by two suspicious individuals.
The driver tried to speed off when the police attempted to stop the vehicle. A chase ensued until the van reached a village where the suspects fled into the nearby forest.
Brunei is a Sultanate located in Southeast Asia. The laws in Brunei impose strict regulations on cigarettes and alcoholic beverages.
