BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Brunei recorded 2.50 billion Brunei dollars (1.81 billion U.S. dollars) total trade for March, a 36.1 percent increase year on year, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance and Economy on Thursday.
Brunei's exports increased by 59.3 percent year on year to 1.69 billion Brunei dollars, mainly due to an increase in mineral fuel exports.
Mineral fuels also recorded the highest contribution to total exports (78.6 percent) with a value of 1.33 billion Brunei dollars.
Imports increased by 4.5 percent year on year to 813.7 million Brunei dollars.
The highest share of exports in March went to China (17.8 percent), followed by Japan (16.7 percent) and Australia (16.0 percent).
The highest share of imports was from Malaysia (33.8 percent), followed by Saudi Arabia (15.7 percent) and China (15.3 percent). (1 Brunei dollar equals about 0.73 U.S. dollars)
