KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 4,855 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Thursday, bringing the national total to 458,077.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that three of the new cases are imported and 4,852 are local transmissions.

Another 27 more deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 1,788.

Some 3,347 patients were released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 414,707 or 90.5 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 41,582 active cases, 481 are being held in intensive care and 247 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
