MANILA -- The Philippines have moved over 51,000 people to safer grounds as the approaching tropical storm Dujuan flooded parts of the southern and central Philippines, a government disaster agency said on Sunday.

The Office of Civil Defense said the government has evacuated over 51,000 people in the provinces of Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, and Dinagat Islands Sunday morning due to massive flooding. (Philippines-Storm)

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 7,300 within one day to 1,278,653, with the death toll adding by 173 to 34,489, the health ministry said on Sunday.

According to the ministry, 8,236 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 1,087,076. (Indonesia-COVID-19)

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,991,651 on Sunday as 14,264 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

NEW DELHI -- Authorities in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand Sunday said the death toll in the dam disaster has risen to 67 and the search for missing people was underway.

"As of now, a total of 67 bodies and 28 human body parts have been retrieved from different places," reads a statement issued by police. "Out of these 37 bodies and one body part has been identified." (India-Dam Disaster)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia received its first batch of COVID-19 vaccines on Sunday, boosting its capability in the fight against the pandemic.

Some 312,390 doses of the vaccine, jointly developed by U.S. pharmaceutical firm Pfizer Inc. and its German partner BioNTech SE., arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and were greeted by Malaysian officials. (Malaysia-Vaccine)
