KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 958 new COVID-19 infections, the health ministry said on Friday, bringing the national total to 52,638.
Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that five of the new cases are imported and with 953 being local transmissions.
The majority of the new cases are from the eastern state of Sabah, with 512 of the new cases reported in the state.
Three more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 329.
Another 956 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 39,088.
Of the remaining 13,221 active cases, 110 are being held in intensive care units and 42 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
