BEIJING -- Major Chinese stock indices ended higher Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising 0.47 percent to close at 3,328.1 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.36 percent higher at 13,603.88 points.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Tuesday moved up 1.92 points, or 0.16 percent to close at 1,210.67 points.

Some 21.64 billion shares worth 59.28 billion baht (about 1.91 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed marginally higher on Tuesday. On the sectoral front, IT index gained 1 percent followed by the pharma and auto, while energy, FMCG, metal and PSU bank indices closed in the red.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 40,544.37, 112.77 points or 0.28 percent up compared to its previous close at 40,431.60.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Tuesday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,510.97, down 7.14 points or 0.47 percent, and the Emas was at 10,985.64, down 52.34 points or 0.47 percent.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.59 percent, or 14.93 points, to close at 2,528.64.

A total of 1.99 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.09 billion Singapore dollars (about 803.24 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 228 to 162.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index down 0.5 point, or 0.08 percent, to close at 655.67 points.

A total of 22,542 shares worth 143.7 million riel (35,042 U.S. dollars) were traded, the CSX said, adding that 49 percent of the traded shares belonged to Phnom Penh SEZ, Plc (PPSP), 24 percent to power technology provider Pestech Cambodia Plc (PEPC), and 24 percent to Acleda Bank Plc. (ABC).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 944.42 points on Tuesday, up 0.73 points, or 0.08 percent against the previous trading day.

Over 444.3 million shares worth nearly 9.2 trillion Vietnamese dong (399.6 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 140.33 points on Tuesday, down 0.56 point or 0.40 percent from the previous trading session.

Approximately 49.3 million shares worth over 770.7 billion Vietnamese dong (33.5 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 27.28 points, or 0.11 percent, to 24,569.54 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,456.84 and 24,600.39. Turnover totaled 99.32 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 12.82 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Tuesday on concerns a deal on a coronavirus-related stimulus package to help underpin the virus-hit U.S. economy may not be reached in enough time before the Nov. 3 presidential election.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 104.09 points, or 0.44 percent, from Monday to close the day at 23,567.04.

SEOUL -- South Korean stocks ended higher Tuesday, after moving in the negative territory in early trading, as foreigners bought local stocks.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 11.67 points, or 0.50 percent, to settle at 2,358.41. Trading volume stood at 862.5 million shares worth 11.7 trillion won (10.3 billion U.S. dollars).

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stock market's indicator, the S&P/NZX 50 index, jumped by 0.62 percent to 12,462 on Tuesday.

The jump was led by MHM Automation Limited, which went up by 7.5 percent to 0.43 NZ dollars (0.28 U.S. dollars), while New Talisman Gold Mines Limited dropped by 14.29 percent to 0.006 NZ dollars.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market finished lower on Tuesday, with the major banks and miners offsetting gains in the tech sector.

At the market close the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was down 44.80 points or 0.72 percent at 6,184.60, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 38.80 points or 0.60 percent at 6,396.80.
