KIANGAN, Ifugao, Sept. 30 (PIA)- -The ordinance institutionaling the Males Against Violence Everywhere (MOVE) as a strategy in advocating anti-violence against women and children and appropriating funds thereof to stop rape, domestic violence, child abuse and the protection of women and children in the municipality is being mulled.

This is in consideration of the clamor of residents following the conduct of information abd education campaign and dialogue with the community by the MOVE in eight of the 14 barangays of the municipality.

Municipal Councilors James Talib and Marcial Allaga are initiating the crafting of said ordinance institutionalizing the MOVE.

The MOVE advocacy group was launched last August 24, 2020. It is led by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) headed by Mario Indopia with partner agencies from national and local offices and non-government organizations because of the disturbing increase of rape incidents in the province.

It aims to organize men in the barangays and get their commitment and full support to campaign and work together towards the eradication of gender violence and rape towards a violence-free community.

This will also protect families and community from social ills since the members will make their pledge and sign their commitments to support the advocacy program of the government for women and children and to become strong and dynamic partners of today and in the future.

In the forum the MOVE conducts in the barangays, they discuss the current situation of women and children in the municipality, salient features of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Law, Oplan PANI-O (taboo) and Oplan AMMUNA (stop) of the Philippine National Police and the MOVE pledge of commitment and signature campaign.

The signature campaign seeks to gather as many signatures for all the men to end rape and other domestic violence in the municipality. (JDP/DBC- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
