BAGUIO CITY, June 30 (PIA) - - The Department of Health Center for Health and Development (DOH - CAR) reports that the Cordillera is at moderate risk from COVID - 19 but reiterates to the public to remain on alert and continue to adhere to the minimum public health standards as the threat of infection remains.

The DOH -CAR, in its COVID - 19 bulletin today, showed 116 confirmed cases recorded in the region wherein 25 are admitted in hospitals, 89 (76.72%) have recovered while two died.

Of the 25 active cases, two are from Abra, six from Apayao, five from Baguio City, eight from Benguet, three from Ifugao and one from Kalinga. Mountain Province currently has no positive case with the lone confirmed case in the province was already cleared and sent home from confinement at the Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital.

DOH - CAR OIC Regional Dr. Amelita Pangilinan, in an online media presser today, reported that Cordillera remains at moderate risk given the high recovery rate, slower case doubling time and low critical care utilization rate.

Case doubling time for the region is at 14.17 days, while critical care utilization (the ratio of confined patients to available or allocated health facility beds/rooms/ICUs) is at 27.91 percent, she reported.

Pangilinan still reminds the public to remain steadfast and not to lay down their guards especially on the implementation of the needed minimum public health safety standards as preventive measures against COVID infection.

"Every individual must be responsible of protecting themselves and their families and the community," Pangilinan stressed.

"No matter what we do, COVID - 19 is within our midst and we must not fret. We must not lay down our guards, we must stay steadfast to our goal to be BIDAS and not contrabidas in our own simple ways," she added.

It may be a simple reminder but an effective preventive tool, "BIDA" - B stands for bawal ang walang mask; I for I-sanitize ang kamay at iwasang humawak ng mga bagay - bagay; D for dumistansya ng isang metro; and A stands for alamain ang totoong impormasyon, Pangilinan said. . (JDP/CCD- PIA CAR)
