Slovakia goes back to nuclear power
Kuala Lumpur News.Net Sunday 11th January, 2009
Slovakia, which is suffering an energy crisis due to the gas dispute between Ukraine and Russia, has decided to restart a Soviet-era nuclear reactor.
Until gas deliveries are fully restored, Slovakia will re-open the old plant as a temporary measure.
Slovakia depends entirely on Russian gas and has suffered greatly over the dispute.
The prime minister declared a state of emergency on Tuesday and ordered 1,000 companies to reduce their consumption levels, to ensure there was enough heating and cooking fuel for homes, hospital and schools. Email this story to a friend

To Jimboah: are you aware of the fact that Ukraine was stealing Russian gas from the gas pipes on its way to W.Europe (while buying Russian gas at the price almost twice cheapper than its market price and still not happy)? When judging Putin’s actions you might consider illegal actions of the second party involved. And European Commission was informed in this regard but nothing changed until Russia was forced to come to some measures.
Plus, ain’t it a purely political game aimed at making the relations between Russia and EU worse?
To Kawahchan:
why exactly GE’s reactor design? why not Westinghouse? :)

GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy For Ukraine.
(R) 2012 DAN QUAYLE PRESIDENTIAL COALITION - American Republican bloc believe today’s American heavy industries are surviving on a transforming new generation. Like Ford Motor Company, the CEO cannot afford to sit under a tree doing nothing to wait for a hare gets accidental hit to the tree to catch his quarry; the CEO ought to look for the overseas foreign countries to contract with the taxicab companies to drive Ford vehiches to serve public transportation and Ford’s mechanic maintenance. After this Winter, those Pro-West Eastern European countries like Ukraine must keen on fulfillment to its Ukraine Energy Independence NOT to relying on monopoly Russian Gazprom’s natural gas to dominate Ukraine’s economic growth and inflation caused by Russian pricing control. American Republican’s helping hands with Bank of America/Merrill Lynch distribute US High-Yield mutual funds such as American Century Investments' High-Yield Fund (symbol: ABHIX) could compromise with General Electric Corporation (GE) bond to build a clean-air, light-water nuclear reactor plant in Ukraine. American privatization in Ukraine, as long as Ukrainian government permits GE to sell nuclear utility to provide low-cost cheap electricity to Ukrainian households to compete with Russian Gazprom, a renewable 20-year GE contract with Ukrainian government, GE will send our American nuclear-engineering staffs and management team to work in Ukraine, will also technical train the local Ukrainians how to operate and maintain the GE nuclear power plant. The Ukrainian households will pay their monthly utility bill to cover the GE Corporation bond’s monthly dividend payment to the investors; anytime Ukraine is welcome to buyback the nuclear reactor plant from GE whenever they are ready to purchase, otherwise GE will collect the Ukrainian utility bill monthly.
* GE will also provide credit to those eligible Ukrainian households to purchase GE appliance products.

Larochefuco: If your portfolio is within Westinghouse’s stocks or corporation bond, of course you expect to choose Westinghouse. Westinghouse usually gets contract with anti-West China. We prefer GE advanced nuclear technology to pro-West, pro-American Ukraine, plus we are GE shareholders, of course Republican bloc’s capital to GE and to Bank of America.
