Fiji floods cover main city

Kuala Lumpur News.Net
Sunday 11th January, 2009

At least six people are believed to have drowned in Fiji as a result of fierce thunderstorms.

The country has been inundated with water and widespread flooding has caused hundreds of people to be evacuated.

Police have imposed a curfew in some flooded towns to discourage possible looters and ensure public safety.

The rain, which has occurred over the past four days has cut power in the towns and has put many houses under water.

The main city of Nadi is under more than a meter of water.
