Malaysian opposition leader promises to take over this year
Kuala Lumpur News.Net Saturday 11th October, 2008 (IANS)
Buoyed by the decision of arch rival Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmed Badawi to quit next March, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has set another deadline for his Pakatan Rakyat alliance to wrest control of the Malaysian government - before the end of the year.
He said Badawi's decision to step down by March and hand over to his deputy, Najib Tun Razak, would not halt the takeover plan.
'It is not like something I will allow to linger for one or two years. The momentum will continue when the parliament goes into session on Monday,' he told a large crowd at a rally.
He repeated his assertion that he had the numbers to form the new government. Badawi has rejected the claim as 'a bluff'.
Ibrahim said the 'takeover' approach would be peaceful because Malaysia could not afford the Thai or Filipino mob style, referring to the Southeast Asian neighbourhood.
Although his speech fired the crowd into wanting more, Anwar stopped short of detailing his modus operandi, saying it would remain a secret until the time was right.
Speaking in English for a foreign media in attendance, Ibrahim said he was addressing the crowd at a critical time in the country's history amid the global economic crisis and Najib's ascension as prime minister, The Star newspaper said Saturday.
Ibrahim made no reference to the sodomy charge that he is combating in the high court.
An aide accused him of sodomy in June after which he was jailed and later got bail.
In the intervening period, Ibrahim staged a political comeback, winning a key parliamentary by-election in August.
He claims the alliance, that is 30 short of the majority, has cobbled the numbers from the ruling alliance Barisan Nasional, that lost its traditional two-thirds parliamentary majority and control of five of the 13 states.

If not this year , the next election the opposition will make it.
We want the change of government to replace the BN Concept which was racial based which didn’t work nowadays. We want fair distribution of wealth and fair opportunity given to minority group. PR will reduce the fuel price immediately the took power. This was promised by PR. I think they can make it.

Marabatn Ampor
Hello Mr Marabatn, you don’t really know what you are talking about. Don’t say things which you do not know. You think PR can do all those things that they promise they would do if they come to power. Bull shit!! They can’t even stand on their own two feet running the state governments how do you expect them to run the central government.

Change of leadership
Datuk,
The hopes of the non-bumis hinge on you... to change this country from a racial apartheid society to a normal country. The road is uphill as bumis fed on decades of spoon feeding will be loath to give up their entitlements. Nonetheless moral and practical considerations cry out for change.
However please do not play the game of the current rulers. If you propose to make a declaration stand by it sir. Please do not take us for a ride and make promises you cannot keep for that will slowly erode your credibility. We are watching and praying and holding our collective breaths.

Change?
Judging of the comments made by yayaya, zazilah and kudrat47, i see only one thing: the immaturity of these people in politics.
Their imbecile thoughts and immature spontaneous ejactulation of opinions makes me to believe that if this is the voice of malaysian people regarding the current political affairs, i’m sure that Malaysian shall never be mature in politics.
Not taking any sides, i think the best way to make an accessment on the current and coming situations to come is to read more history on the rise and downfall of political figure as well as political parties.
IF change is just around the corner, it may be a new experience in the Malaysian politics. And IF nothing happens, it is just politics. As similar to a stageplay, nothing more.
